Penance, the fourth sacrament of the Church Universal and Triumphant®, is a transformative spiritual practice rooted not only in Catholic tradition but also in the wisdom of Buddhism and the teachings of the ascended masters. It offers individuals a sacred opportunity to confess their sins, seek divine forgiveness, and realign themselves with their highest spiritual purpose.
At its core, penance is a sacred practice of soul purification and the restoration of harmony with God, the Holy Christ Self, and the ascended masters. Through confession, contrition, and acts of atonement, individuals release the burden of past misdeeds, casting them to the sacred fire for transformation. This sacred practice prepares the soul to receive the light of Christ, ensuring that its spiritual garment—the wedding garment—remains pure and unblemished.
As Saint Patrick teaches, confession realigns the soul with the chalice of Christ, the Holy Grail, allowing one to partake of the divine nectar of the Spirit. It is a daily discipline of humility and self-awareness, that allows the soul to submit her imperfections to the sacred fire and welcome the descending grace of God.
In Buddhism, confession is integral to the bodhisattva path. Practitioners acknowledge transgressions from this life and past lives, committing to avoid such actions in the future. This daily practice clears obstacles to spiritual progress and deepens the connection to the Buddha’s teachings.
In Catholicism, confession is part of the sacrament of penance, involving contrition, confession to a priest, and acts of atonement. It cleanses the soul, preparing the individual to receive Holy Communion. The priest serves as a voice of the Holy Christ Self, guiding the penitent toward spiritual reconciliation.
The ascended masters teach that confession holds cosmic significance as a means of aligning the soul with divine Law. By acknowledging one’s mistakes and seeking forgiveness, the soul is liberated from the burden of karmic consequences and drawn closer to the light of God’s grace.
The ascended masters have consistently emphasized the importance of confession and repentance as powerful tools for spiritual renewal. El Morya teaches that unresolved sins create barriers to the flow of divine light, hindering the complete resolution of karma. Through sincere confession and a commitment to align with the divine Law, individuals deepen their connection with the ascended hosts and open their hearts to the transformative power of the sacred fire. sacred fire.
Penance is far more than simply acknowledging one’s faults—it is a heartfelt turning toward God and a sincere embrace of the path of self-purification. As Saint Francis taught, true penance is a complete renunciation of the self and an unwavering commitment to the will of God. It serves as a daily opportunity to cleanse and renew the soul, ensuring it remains a sacred temple of the living God.
